Malabar Literature Festival's Heritage Walk ‘De Malabaricus’ held at Thalangara
While exploring the heritage spots, a group of history enthusiasts on Sunday evening came together to comprehend the historical legacy of Kasargod. The participants heard the stories from local historians and literary figures who narrated the past glory of Kasargod. The event was ‘De Malabaricus Heritage Walk’ and it was held as part of the Malabar Literature Festival (MLF) to be held from November 31-December 3 in Kozhikode. Starting at Udma, the walk covered Thalangara, Qazi Lane and Mogral Ishal Gramam where the participants were welcomed by Mappila songs performed by local singers. Noted author and filmmaker MA Rahman addressed the inaugural session. The participants visited Malik Deenar Mosque, the house of Mappila poet T Ubaid and the skull cap manufacturing places of Thalangara. Mangalore Qazi Twaqa Ahmed Moulavi, author Sodheeq Nadwi Cheroor, Abdul Rahman Thalangara and Basheer Ahmed Mogral interacted with the participants. ‘De Malabaricus’ is an integral part of MLF’s endeavour to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Malabar. The next phases of the event will be held in Kozhikode, Tirurangadi, Koyilandy and Thalassery where the participants will immerse in the cultural treasures of Malabar while interacting with local historians and heritage enthusiasts. MLF is an annual gathering that celebrates the rich tapestry of Malabar's language, literature, arts, culture, and international relations. It serves as a platform for diverse voices and ideas, bringing together a diverse array of authors and experts from around the world.
